Citizens Voice and CArCRT-SL Empower Students Through Digital Safety and Online Awareness Campaign
Citizens Voice SL, in collaboration with the Coalition for Community Resilience and Transformation Sierra Leone (CArCRT-SL), organized a Digital Safety and Online Awareness Campaign aimed at empowering secondary school students and young people with the knowledge required to safely engage in today's digital environment.
As internet access and digital technologies continue to expand, young people increasingly face risks such as cyberbullying, online scams, identity theft, misinformation, and privacy violations. Recognizing these challenges, the campaign focused on building awareness while promoting safe, responsible, and ethical online behavior.
Throughout the sessions, participants explored key topics including digital citizenship, online privacy, cybersecurity, password protection, social media responsibility, identifying fake news, recognizing phishing attempts, protecting personal data, and reporting harmful online behavior. Facilitators used interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, and real-world examples to ensure participants could confidently apply these lessons in their everyday digital lives.
The initiative also encouraged participants to serve as peer educators and Digital Safety Ambassadors, helping spread awareness within their schools, families, and communities while fostering a culture of responsible technology use.
This partnership demonstrates the shared commitment of Citizens Voice SL and CArCRT-SL to strengthening digital literacy, promoting online safety, empowering young people, and creating a more secure and informed digital society in Sierra Leone.
