Citizens Voice and CArCRT-SL Lead Community Civic Education and Citizen Engagement Outreach
Citizens Voice SL, in collaboration with the Coalition for Community Resilience and Transformation Sierra Leone (CArCRT-SL), organized a Community Civic Education and Citizen Engagement Outreach aimed at strengthening civic awareness, democratic participation, and inclusive governance within communities across Sierra Leone.
Recognizing that informed citizens are essential for sustainable development and accountable governance, the outreach created a platform for meaningful dialogue between community members and local stakeholders. Participants included youth, women, traditional leaders, religious leaders, civil society representatives, and local residents, all working together to identify community priorities and explore peaceful, collaborative solutions.
The outreach featured interactive civic education sessions, community dialogues, public awareness campaigns, and participatory discussions covering key topics such as civic rights and responsibilities, accountability, transparency, democratic participation, social inclusion, peaceful conflict resolution, community leadership, and citizen engagement in local development.
Participants were encouraged to become active citizens by engaging constructively with local authorities, participating in community decision-making, promoting peaceful dialogue, and supporting initiatives that improve the well-being of their communities. The sessions also emphasized the importance of inclusion, ensuring that women, young people, and marginalized groups have a voice in shaping community development.
By strengthening civic knowledge and encouraging active participation, the initiative contributed to building more informed, resilient, and engaged communities capable of driving positive social change through collaboration and democratic participation.
This partnership reflects the shared commitment of Citizens Voice SL and CArCRT-SL to promoting civic education, empowering citizens, strengthening community resilience, and fostering transparent, accountable, and inclusive governance throughout Sierra Leone.
